Portrait Photography – Work Experience

I met a lovely young lady yesterday, and am pleased to say I’ll be taking her on next week for a few weeks of work experience at our portrait studio in Loughborough. She’s been studying portrait photography at school, and is now doing an art and design foundation year at college.

What struck me was her passion for portrait photography (example above), along with other work showing an eye for composition, interesting subjects and lighting.

I’ve been planning for some time to take on someone on work experience – and there are dual benefits. I will get to pass on my knowledge of portrait photography to a keen learner. But also I believe I’ll learn as much about what works and doesn’t work in my business. Being asked questions by a third party is fantastic for making sure you know your own business; or if you don’t know the answers, it’s great for making a todo list.

I’m really looking forward to the experience.
